about the creators

Co-creators Jack Marone and Bob Raymonda met as freshmen at SUNY Purchase and worked together in Brooklyn not long after graduating in 2012. In 2015, on the subway home from work, Jack pitched Bob the idea of Forgive Me!, which essentially boiled down to HBO’s High Maintenance if you traded the weed delivery guy for a young priest and Weed Guy’s various New York City customers for Catholics from Upstate New York in confession. The idea sat on the back burner until the fall of 2018 when Rogue Dialogue’s first show, Windfall, was in postproduction and the team was searching for their next story to tell, preferably one with fewer characters but just as much heart.

Bob challenged Jack to write an entire draft of the first season by himself, with stories inspired by his own upbringing in a Catholic school outside of Rochester, New York. The two then spent the next several months refining each episode before eventually casting and producing the show the following fall. Rogue Dialogue cofounders Christie Donato and Adam Raymonda joined in to aid with in-person directing, and Jack and Bob offered notes during sessions remotely before Adam finished production with his trademark sound design and original compositions.

Season two of Forgive Me! was written, directed, and produced entirely remotely. This time around, both Jack and Bob split first draft duties with more stories inspired by their childhood in Upstate, NY. They’ve pushed the boundaries on what it means to create an episode of the show and are incredibly excited for season two and beyond.

Reviews & Testimonials

The rules of the confessional are more like guidelines than official rules in the parish of Binghamton, New York. In this satirical religious comedy (which takes place entirely inside the confessional) young Father Ben steps in as a replacement priest and discovers an eccentric community often set in their ways. Forgive Me! features emotional, hilarious dialogues that reflect on sins and consequences, and the Catholic experience, and which propel you right back into those histories with clever sound design.

In each episode of Forgive Me! Father Ben sits in a confessional booth and hears different stories from the people in his new town: from a woman who comes to church with the same confession every time with no intention of changing, to a man feeling shame at the fact that he hasn’t yet learned to love his wife’s pet pig. Forgive Me! is a really warm and funny series about small-town life, community, and the way our lives and secrets intertwine in surprising and heartwarming ways. The podcast is entertaining and a little bit entertaining, and a little bit irreverent, but a really interesting look into secrets, confessions, and friendships that I think you’re gonna love.
